Beverly A. Darrow, 69, of 113 Pine St., died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Pittsfield on June 6, 1937, daughter of Leonard A. and Irene Murphy Teal, she was educated locally and in Canajoharie, N.Y. She completed her nurse's training at Geneva (N.Y.) General Hospital and completed refresher courses at Berkshire Community College.
A registered nurse, Mrs. Darrow was employed by the former Hillcrest Hospital until retiring in 1969 because of poor health. Before that, she worked as a nurse at Munson State Hospital.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Pittsfield and enjoyed traveling, shopping, dining out and doing crossword puzzles.
She and her husband, Richard L. Darrow Sr., were married 53 years.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Mary C. Campoli of Pittsfield; two sons, Richard L. Darrow Jr. of Lanesborough and Michael J. Darrow of Dalton; two sisters, Cathy Saccente of Rocky Hill, Conn., and Mary Robbins of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a brother, David Teal of Salem, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Elizabeth Therese Darrow, died in 1961.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A private memorial service for Beverly A. Darrow, who died Saturday, May 5, 2007, will be held following cremation. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place at a later date.
In Beverly's honor, a private family dinner will be held for immediate family only. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Food Pantry or to the Christian Center, both in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She also leaves a son-in-law, Robert Campoli, and two daughters-in-law, Sandy Spiewak Darrow and Jennifer Dixon Darrow. Mrs. Darrow enjoyed spending time with her family.
