Gerald A. Guild

Gerald A. Guild, 77, of 163 Clevland Road, died Saturday at Beth Israel Hospital in Boson.

Born in Wrentham on Nov. 30, 1929, son of William and Myrtle MacInnes Guild, he graduated from Oliver Ames High School in North Easton in 1947 and, in 1951, earned a degree in civil engineering from Tufts University in Boston. He received his master's degree from American International College in 1964.

An Army veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1952 to 1954 and was discharged with the rank of corporal.

Mr. Guild was employed by Beloit-Jones Corp. as a design engineer from 1978 to 1994.

He was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist in Pittsfield and, for 50 years, of the Paul Revere Masonic Lodge AF & AM in Brockton.

A musician, he held several offices with the The Eagles Band and the Otto Schultze Band, where he played the trumpet and the tuba. He also played taps at local military funerals.

He and his wife, the former Patricia G. Gindele, were married Dec. 27, 1952.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Rebecca A. Jenness of Brookline; a son, William Guild of Carlisle; and six grandchildren.

Another son, Stewart Guild, died in 1993.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Gerald A. "Gerry" Guild will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. Burial will be at a later date in the family plot in Brimfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donates are suggested for The Eagles Band through the funeral home.

Mr. Guild also leaves six grandchildren, Andrew and Caroline Guild, and Charles, Louisa, Nora and Cameron Jenness; and four local residents who were foster children of the Guild family, Jan Greiner of Otis, Steven Nichols of Stockbridge, and Kathleen Torrey and Kelly Wright, both of Pittsfield.
