Edward Francis Killela Jr., 56, of 11 Turner Ave. died Sunday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 30, 1950, son of the late Edward F. Killela Sr. and Isabelle Daley Killela, he was a 1968 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Killela was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
At the time of his death, he was employed by County Ambulance as a chair car driver for 10 years. Before that, he was employed by the Pittsfield Water Department for 20 years.
He enjoyed sports.
He and his wife, the former Sharon G. Bruneau, were married Feb. 14, 1986.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Edward D. Killela of Pittsfield; four stepsons, Michael J. Houghtlin and Robert A. Houghtlin Jr., both of Pittsfield, Todd A. Houghtlin of Duryea, Pa., and Mark A. Houghtlin of the state of Florida; a stepdaughter, Tammy L. Houghtlin of Pittsfield; two brothers, Rocky Killela of Norfolk and Peter J. Killela of Pittsfield; and 10 grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Edward F. Killela Jr., who died Sunday, April 22, 2007, will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME by Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday from noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Edward is lovingly survived by his 10 grandchildren, Shannon L. Terpak, Mackenzie H., Brandon P., Michael J., Anna, Austin J., Josh E., Tiffany S. and Robert Houghtlin, and Crista M. Andrews.
He also leaves two nephews, Jeremy and Matthew Killela and Tyson Richards and a niece, Stacie Killela. Mr. Killela was a dedicated and caring worker at County Ambulance, always caring for those he served with the utmost dignity. He enjoyed helping others.
