Byron "Bud" Hoover

Byron "Bud" Hoover, 78, of 83 Burke Ave., died Monday at home after a long illness.
Born in New York City on April 2, 1929, son of Byron M. and Elizabeth Pruyne Hoover, he moved to Pittsfield when he was a child and he was educated in Pittsfield schools.
He was a 1947 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Hoover was employed by General Electric in the ordnance department for many years, serving as the divisional steward and serving on the union executive board during those years. He retired in 1981 after more than 30 years' service.
He was an outdoorsman and naturalist, and enjoyed hiking on Mount Greylock. He also enjoyed reading and writing poetry.
He and his wife, the former June Hoskeer, were married April 12, 1952.
Besides his wife, Mr. Hoover leaves two sons, Paul Allan Hoover of Bristol, R.I., and Mark Byron Hoover of Florence.
A daughter, Holly Hoover, died in 1954.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Byron Hoover died Monday, April 9, 2007. Following cremation, a celebration of Byron "Bud" Hoover's life will be held on Saturday, April 14, starting at 2 p.m., at his home, 83 Burke Ave., Pittsfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Pleasant Valley Sanctuary, 472 Mountain Road, Lenox, MA 01240 or to a charity of the donor's choice. He also leaves a daughter-in-law, Sue McHugh of Florence; a sister-in-law, Judy Hoskeer of Pittsfield; and four nieces, Bonnie Hoskeer of Lanesborough, Heather Zarza-Hoskeer of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Melodie and Jodie Hoskeer, both of Pittsfield.
He is predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Hoover.
