C. Ambrose "Ambie" Macbeth

C. Ambrose "Ambie" Macbeth, 90, of 40 Sunset Ave., formerly of Rome, N.Y., died on Saturday, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Causapscal, Quebec, on Aug. 7, 1916, son of William and Ellen Grogan Macbeth, he was a graduate of Utica schools. He also attended the Utica School of Commerce, Mohawk Valley Com-munity College and Utica College.
He was a veteran of the Coast Guard, serving during World War II, and was honorably discharged on Sept. 13, 1945, as gunner's mate 1st class.
Mr. Macbeth was employed by Rome Sentinel Co. as an advertising salesman for more than 35 years, retiring in 1981. He was previously employed at St. Agnes' Church in Utica and New York Power and Light Co.
Mr. Macbeth was a member of St. Paul's Church, a life member of the Rome Elks Lodge, and also a member and secretary for several years of the Lake Delta Yacht Club.
He married the former Marian Hauss in St. Peter's Church in Rome, on Sept. 19, 1942. She died Jan. 16, 2006.
Mr. Macbeth leaves a daughter, Christine Rivers of Lee; a son, Michael Macbeth of Derby Line, Vt.; and two grandsons.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for C. Ambrose Macbeth, who died Saturday, April 7, 2007, will be held at NUNN AND HARPER FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. George Street, Rome, N.Y., on Friday at 9:15 a.m. and at St. Paul's Church at 10 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. in Ambie's memory may be made to St. Paul's Church Memorial Fund. Ambie's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Bethany Gardens and Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center, Sedgwick Unit, for the kindness and compassion shown to him during his illness.
He also leaves a son-in-law, Dennis Rivers; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Macbeth; and two grandsons, Aaron Macbeth and his wife, Amy, and Timothy Macbeth.
