Dorothea T. Kirchner, 76, of 40 Old Stockbridge Road, died of cancer Saturday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on July 23, 1930, daughter of James and Lillian Akroyd Thomson, she graduated from Lenox High School in 1948.
Mrs. Kirchner was employed by the former Brown's Express in Pittsfield, among other area businesses, as a secretary for many years.
She and her husband, Kenneth E. Kirchner, were married Aug. 15, 1953, in Richmond.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Kenneth E. Kirchner of Windsor Locks, Conn., and Keith E. Kirchner of Nashua, N.H.; a daughter, Lisa K. McCusker of Lee; two sisters, Geraldine Fallon of Hinsdale and Alice Sabato of Springfield; a brother, Charles Thomson of Housatonic; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A private time for the family of Dorothea Kirchner, who died Saturday, April 7, 2007, will be held tomorrow at ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox. A private burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Berkshire Hematology and Oncology of Pittsfield or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home. Dorothea also leaves her beloved grandchildren, including Kristen and Ryan McCusker, Jonathan and Keirsten Kirchner, Travis Gadbois and Jimmy and Kim.
She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister and five brothers, one of whom served and was killed in World War II.
