Marjorie Lillis Dus

Marjorie Lillis Dus, 86, of Lenox Road, died Saturday at Albany Medical Center after a short illness.

Born in the Rockdale section of West Stockbridge on Dec. 28, 1920, daughter of Chester L. and Marian Ried Pixley, she graduated from the Red Brick Schoolhouse in the Williamsville section of West Stockbridge.

She moved to Richmond in 1942.

During World War II, Mrs. Dus was an airplane spotter on Malumphy Hill and was honored by the Red Cross for her efforts knitting and boxing supplies for troops overseas.

She worked as a nurse's aide, first at Edgecombe Nursing Home in Lenox and then at the former Hillcrest Hospital. She retired in 1976.

Mrs. Dus taught Sunday school at Richmond Congregational Church and was active in the Parent-Teacher Association and the lunch program at Richmond School.

She also was a den mother for the Richmond Cub Scouts. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making dolls, painting and writing poetry.

She and her husband, Ricco H. Dus Sr., were married Jan. 8, 1939, at Housatonic Congregational Church. He died May 20, 1995.

She leaves five sons, Ricco H. Dus Jr. of Richmond, Robert E. Dus and Lino S. Dus, both of Pittsfield, David L. Dus of Stephentown, N.Y., and Gary R. Dus of Suffield, Conn.; 25 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service and funeral for Marjorie L. Dus, who died Saturday, April 7, 2007, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. tomorrow. Besides her sons, Mrs. Dus also leaves her daughters-in-law and sons' partners, Charlene of Richmond, Lisken of Pittsfield, Joy of Stephentown, Vicki of Suffield and Flo of Pittsfield; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved teacup poodle, Cinnamon.

She loved and was loved deeply, and will be much missed. Mrs. Dus and her husband, Ricco H. Dus Sr., enjoyed 56 years of love-filled life together. She took great pride in her work as a nurse's aide, earning many commendations and much love for her caring manner and professional attitude.

Mrs. Dus was a dedicated mother and homemaker who enjoyed her many involvements in the community and with her sons as they grew up. She was predeceased by her 10 brothers and sisters. Remembrances, memories and reflections may be sent to the family through www.finnertyandstevensfuneralhome.com.
