Francelia Dean "Frankie" Corbett

Francelia Dean "Frankie" Corbett, 95, of 235 Walker St., died Monday evening at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Winslow, Maine, on Dec. 16, 1911, daughter of James L. and Leana Pearl Reynold Dean, she attended Colburn Classical Institute and the University of Maine at Orono, where she graduated in 1934, and was a Sophomore Eagle and an All Maine Woman.

Mrs. Corbett worked as a home demonstration agent in Piscataquis County, Maine, teaching various homemaking and child-rearing skills to rural women and their families.

She and Donald P. Corbett were married in September 1937. They lived in Winslow, Maine, where she managed their dairy farm during World War II. They moved to St. Louis in 1961 and later to West Hartford, Conn. Mr. Corbett died in 1988.

She shared her husband's legacy of gift giving through her generosity to the Corbett School of Business at the University of Maine at Orono and the Corbett Medical Center in the Bahamas.

Mrs. Corbett had traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, spending many winters in Treasure Cay, Abaco, Bahamas. A member of several country clubs, she enjoyed golf as well as needlepoint and gardening.

She leaves two daughters, Ann Lucas of PIttsfield, and Virginia Corbett of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial Mass for Francelia Dean Corbett, who died Monday, March 26, 2007, will be celebrated on Saturday, May 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Church in Lenox by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frankie's memory may be made to either HospiceCare in the Berkshires or the Kimball Farms Library Fund, both in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.

Mrs. Corbett was considered a wonderful joke teller by the many friends who listened to her over the years.
