Marjorie J. Lavalley

Marjorie J. Lavalley, 76, formerly of Second Street, died Tuesday at Providence Care Center in Lenox, where she had resided for three years.

Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 18, 1930, daughter of John and Lulu Dimanche Smith, she attended the former Dalton High School.

Mrs. Lavalley was employed as a waitress for 50 years, working at the Highland, and the former Busy Bee, Nel's, Lenox House and Robin Hood restaurants.

She was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church and a fan of the Boston Celtics, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

Her husband, Henry H. Lavalley, whom she married in 1946, died Dec. 10, 1996.

She leaves two daughters, Judy Boone of Pittsfield and Ann Vachula of Port Charlotte, Fla.; four sons, Raymond, Joseph and John Lavalley, all of Pittsfield, and Richard Lavalley of Dalton; a brother, Robert Smith of Pittsfield; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Marjorie J. Lavalley, who died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, will be celebrated Thursday, March 29, at St. Agnes' Church by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. until the start of the service at the church at 11 a.m. Memorial gifts may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of BARTLETT WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226, which is in charge of arrangements.
