Rosanna Marlowe

Rosanna Marlowe, 83, a formerly of Lenox, died Saturday at Springside Nursing Home of Pittsfield after a long illness.

Born in Cleveland on Dec. 26, 1923, daughter of Alexander and Esther Chertkoff Dumas, she attended Ohio State University.

Mrs. Marlowe lived in New York City for many years, where she taught piano at the Diller-Quayle School.

She moved to Lenox in 1993, where she taught piano privately.

She volunteered at Tanglewood, where she enjoyed attending concerts. She also was an ESOL tutor through the English Speaking Union in New York and the Literacy Network in Lee. She was a member of the Self-Realization Fellowship, participating in their services and mediation retreats in Shaftsbury, Vt., Philadelphia and New York.

She and her husband, George J. Marlowe, were married in 1945. He died in 1976.

She leaves two daughters, Leonore J. Sundberg of Stockbridge and Claudia Marlowe of San Marcos, Texas and Walsenburg, Colo.; a sister, Sally Chudakoff of Youngstown, Ohio; a brother, Theodore Dumas of Warren, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A private memorial service for the family of Rosanna Marlowe, who died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, will be held this summer in Lenox. Memorial donations may by made to the Tanglewood Music Center or the Alzheimer's Association in care of FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.

Rosanna had a lifelong passion for classical music and was an accomplished pianist and piano teacher. She also leaves four grandchildren, Timothy Sundberg, Jonathan Sundberg, Christopher Hoffmann and Chelsea Hoffmann, and two sons-in-law, Paul Eric Sundberg and Gary Gray.

Rosanna's family wishes to thank the caring staff of Springside of Pittsfield, who made her last years more comfortable.
