John G. Carey

John G. Carey, 74, of 140 Melbourne Road, a former resident of Adams, died Saturday at home of cancer.
Born in Adams on Feb. 25, 1932, son of Gerald H. and Grace Haytree Carey, he attended local schools and was a 1950 graduate of the former Adams High School.
There, he was a member of Pro Merito, the Crimson Key and the band. He later graduated from Bentley College with a degree in accounting.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in Germany.
Mr. Carey was employed as a certified public accountant, and was employed by West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Previously, he held a position with US Envelope Inc., and at one time was employed by the former Adams supermarket.
He leaves two sisters, Patricia A. Carey of Adams and Judith Picard of Lakeland, Fla.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- In accordance with his wishes, John G. Carey, who died on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, will be cremated. An interment service will be held at the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery in the spring, at a date to be announced.
MCBRIDE FUNERAL SERVICE of Adams is in charge of arrangements. He also leaves a brother-in-law, Roger; a sister-in-law, Alice D. Carey; and two nieces and two nephews. A brother, Robert B. Carey, died in March 1990.
