Charles A. Reed Sr.

Charles A. Reed Sr., 73, of 347 Sycamore Drive, Crossville, Tenn., died Monday at home.
He was co-owner of Summit Hill Campground in the town of Washington from 1985 to 2005
Born in New Haven, Conn., on Feb. 6, 1933, son of Herbert and Florence Samuelson Reed, he was a resident of West Haven, Conn., until retiring to Tennessee in 1996.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Reed was a journeyman electrician and a 50-year member of IBEW Local 90. He was the training director for National Electrical Contractors Association and Local 90 Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee from 1974 to 1992.
In 1956, he joined Engine Company 1 in West Haven and served as a volunteer fireman until his retirement. He was a member of New Haven Fire Chiefs Association, the American Legion and City Point Yacht Club. He was the loan officer for Nutmeg Federal Credit Union.
He and his wife, the former Barbara Krewsky, were married 50 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Danica Reed of Dalton, Nancy Salvatore of Windsor and Barbara Giove of New Britain, Conn.; two sons, Charles A. Reed Jr. of Rockford, Mich., and Richard Reed of West Haven; a brother, Herbert Reed Jr. of West Haven; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Charles A. Reed Sr., who died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, will be Monday at 10 at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Visitation hours will be Sunday from 3 to 8. Interment with military honors will be in St. Agnes' Cemetery in Branford, Conn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to Hospice of Cumberland County, 30 East Adams St., Crossville, TN 38555-4802, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1004, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450-1004.
He also leaves daughters- and sons-in-law, Bobbie Jean and Kathie Reed, and Kevin Giove and Bill Salvatore; grandchildren, Sarah, Brian, Ricky, Alex, Adam, Tracey, Joey, Samantha, Angela, Brandyn and Cheyenne; and great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Liliana.
