Margaret Rathbone

Margaret Rathbone, 97, of 235 Walker St. died Wednesday morning at Kimball Farms in Lenox.
Born in Cheshire, England, on Oct. 1, 1909, the daughter of Thomas Percy and Ada Burrows Rathbone, she was a graduate of Walnut Hill School in Natick and attended Connecticut College in New London, Conn., where she earned a bachelor's degree in history, and Simmons College in Boston, earning her master's degree in library science.
Miss Rathbone was employed as librarian at Harvard University's Fogg Husbux Library and at Dumbarton Oaks Library, Washington, D.C., retiring in 1964.
She was a longtime resident of Georgetown, Washington, D.C, before moving to Lenox in 1991.
She was a member of Unitarian-Universalist Church in Pittsfield.
Miss Rathbone leaves two nieces.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial concert and reception for Margaret Rathbone, who died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, will be held Saturday, Dec. 23, at 3 p.m. at Kimball Farms, 235 Walker St., Lenox. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Lenox Library Association in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
Miss Rathbone leaves two nieces, Mary Taylor Adelstein of Newton and Marcia Taylor Fowle of New York City and Sheffield; four grandnieces, Elizabeth Adelstein, Margaret, Suzanne and Abigail Fowle; one grandnephew, Joseph Adelstein; four great-grandnieces; and one great-grandnephew.
