Greta Mary Ford, 81, of 320 Pittsfield Road died Sunday at Providence Care Center.
Born in Bennington, Vt., on May 27, 1925, daughter of Ambrose and Isabel Buckley Baker, she attended schools in Lanesborough, Prince Edward Island and Lenox, where she graduated from Lenox High School in 1944.
Mrs. Ford was employed by Loeb's Food Town in the produce department, retiring in 1991 after more than 30 years of service. Prior to that, she worked at the former Pajama Factory in Lee and General Electric Co. in Pittsfield.
She and her husband, Earl T. Ford, were married in St. Ann's Church on Sept. 24, 1949. They had made their home on Housatonic Street for many years prior to moving to The Curtis, where she lived for many years until going to Providence Care Center on July 17, 2004.
Mr. Ford died June 30, 1991.
Mrs. Ford was a communicant of St. Ann's Church and a member of The Curtis Club, where she was involved in many of their activities. She also enjoyed NASCAR racing and playing cards.
She leaves three sisters, Dorothy Davenport of Milton, Fla., Cecelia Holmberg of Inverness, Fla., and Mary Walker of Maggie Valley, N.C.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral of Mrs. Greta M. Ford, who died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor.
Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240, to help defray expenses. Greta was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Sieber, in 2000. She also leaves 16 nieces and nephews.
