Ruth Patricia Pattangall

Ruth Patricia Pattangall, 85, of Devonshire Estates, 329 Pittsfield Road, died Saturday of ovarian cancer at Providence Care Center.

Born in Fall River on Jan. 22, 1921, daughter of James L. and Rebecca Martin Connors, she was a 1938 graduate of Durfee High School.

She lived in Attleboro for 50 years and moved Lenox in November 2001.

Mrs. Pattangall was a homemaker.

She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church and a longtime volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America. She also devoted her time to the service of children with physical and emotional challenges. She was an accomplished dressmaker and excelled at all forms of needlework. She enjoyed reading and was the unofficial "librarian" at Devonshire.

Her husband, Sewall Lincoln Pattangall, whom she married in Baltimore on May 4, 1942, died Nov. 24, 1999.

She leaves a daughter, Monica R. Pattangall of Lenox; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial Mass honoring the life of Ruth P. Pattangall, who died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 27, at 10 at St. Mary's Church, 385 Central Ave., Route 152, Seekonk, by the Rev. George B. Scales, pastor. There will be no calling hours.

Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne at the convenience of the family. Donations in her memory made be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, both in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.

She also leaves her granddaughter, Rebecca G. Mitchell of Galway, N.Y., and her husband, Michael; her great-grandchildren, Sam Lincoln Mitchell and Emma Gretchen Mitchell, and 13 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Florence Fitzgerald of Westport, Mass.; and her brother, James Connors of Derby, Conn.
