Randel H. Middlebrook, 85, of 66 Judith Drive died Monday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided since August.
Born in Pittsfield on May 6, 1921, son of Randel O. and Irene Gunn Middlebrook, he was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Middlebrook was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was employed as a machinist at General Electric Co. in both the ordnance and power transformer divisions for 44 years, retiring in 1984.
He enjoyed playing golf and was a hobbyist who built different types of models.
He enjoyed ham radio, which led to his involvement with the Dalton Civil Defense during the ‘70s. He was also a member of the Dalton American Legion.
He and his wife, the former Marguerite Jenks, were married June 10, 1946.
Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, David Middlebrook of Pittsfield, Dana Middlebrook of Adams, Craig Middlebrook of Enfield, Conn., and Jay Middlebrook of Sandy Brook, N.C.; a daughter, Lauri Adams of Haines City, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Randel Middlebrook, who died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, will be held Friday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, celebrated by the Rev. Irene Jones. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
There will be an hour of visitation on the day of the memorial service from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Dalton Ambulance Fund, care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
