Mary D. Handley

Mary D. Handley, 94, formerly of Berkeley, Calif., died Monday at Sugar Hill Senior Living Community, where she had resided for the past year and a half.
Born in Middletown, Ohio, on Aug. 7, 1912, daughter of Andrew and Mary Deak Domokos, she was educated in Michigan schools and earned a master's degree in education from the University of Michigan.
Mrs. Handley was a teacher in the Livermore, Calif., school district for approximately 10 years, retiring many years ago.
She was a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Redwood City, Calif. She was also a member of the National Audubon Society and of the Sierra Club of California.
She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and South America. She especially enjoyed the opera, played the piano and violin, and sang and played Hungarian music. She also enjoyed birdwatching.
Her former husband, Raymond Handley, is deceased.
Mrs. Handley leaves a daughter, MaryAnna D. Ham of Worthington, and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Mary D. Handley, who died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, will be Monday, Sept. 18, in California. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Memorial Parks in Hollywood Hills, Calif.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Handley may be made to the Hungarian Reformed Church of Redwood City, Calif., in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, which is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Handley also leaves her son-in-law, David O. Ham, and her two granddaughters, Audrey D. Ham-Kim of Hana Maui, Hawaii, and Lesley A. Ham of Worthington.
