Thomas d'Aquin Daverin

Thomas d'Aquin Daverin, 86, of 19 Cummings Ave. died Wednesday morning at his home.

Born in Pittsfield on March 25, 1920, son of George and Yvonne d'Aquin Daverin, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.

A Navy veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, he served from Jan. 20, 1942, to Jan. 8, 1946, and again from Sept. 13, 1950, to May 23, 1951.

He was employed by General Electric Co., where he worked as an electrician throughout its Pittsfield plants. He retired in 1982 after 42 years of service. He was also an instructor in the electrical trades program at Taconic High School.

Mr. Daverin was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church.

He was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs as well as a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed fixing things and camping.

He leaves his wife, the former Mary E. Edmonds, whom he married Aug. 3, 1986.

Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Ronald D. Daverin of Cary, Ill., Robert T. Daverin of Billerica, Russell G. Daverin of Sacramento, Calif., and Raymond W. Daverin of Pittsfield; a daughter, Rochelle Daverin of Pittsfield; five stepchildren; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Thomas d'Aquin Daverin, who died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church, concelebrated by the Rev. Mark Mengel, S.S.C., pastor, and the Rev. Timothy J. Campoli, Mr. Daverin's nephew.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Daverin may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
