John C. "Jack" Reid

John C. "Jack" Reid, 64, of Vero Beach, Fla., formerly of Dalton, died Tuesday at Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach, Fla.
Born in Pittsfield on April 5, 1942, son of the late Charles A. and Margaret Murray Reid, he was a 1960 graduate of the former Dalton High School.
He resided in Dalton until 1965.
Mr. Reid was a drug and alcohol counselor for almost 20 years. He was co-author of "The Journey," a book exploring the issues of relapses in alcohol treatment.
He was a member of the Unity Center of Vero Beach.
He leaves his wife, Gloria Stone-Reid; two sons, Kevin Reid of Salem and Shaun Reid of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Colleen Kelly and Karen Mongue-Nichols, both of Pittsfield; a sister, Elizabeth O'Brien of Kingston, N.Y.; two brothers, James Reid of Orange and Thomas Reid of Dalton, and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- John C. "Jack" Reid died Tuesday, July 18, 2006. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 29, at noon at Unity Center of Vero Beach. Memorial donations may be made to Unity Center of Vero Beach, 950 43rd Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960.
Mr. Reid was predeceased by a sister, Mary Clarkson of Pittsfield, in 1997.
