Ruby E. Bendross, 75, of 393 Washington Mountain Road died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Bainbridge, Ga. on May 3, 1931, daughter of the late Gordie Pugh Sr. and Virgilene Clayton Pugh, she was a graduate of Hutto High School in Bainbridge, and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Savannah State College.
She was employed by the Georgia School District and later by Becket Elementary School from 1967 to 1988.
She enjoyed playing bingo and hand-held poker.
She was a member of the Becket Federated Church.
She leaves a daughter, Sandra Delossantos of Dalton; two sons, Anthony Pugh of Becket and Ronald Pugh of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Gordie Pugh Jr. of Lithonia, Ga.; a granddaughter, and a great grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Following her wishes, a memorial service for Ruby E. Bendross, who died Sunday, July 16, 2006, will be held Saturday, July 22, at 11 at the Becket Federated Church with the Rev. Michael Nash officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Following cremation, burial will be in Bainbridge, Ga. at a later date. She leaves a granddaughter, Nina Delossantos, and a great-grandson, Jayon Black, and an Aunt Velma Jackson of Bainbridge, Ga., and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was predeceased by her sister, Carrie Mae Smith, and her former husband, Sim Bendross. Donations in her memory may be made to the Becket Federated Church, care of BARTLETT WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
