Clarence A. Baldwin Sr.

Clarence A. Baldwin Sr., 91, of 3136 State Road died Wednesday at Great Barrington Rehab and Nursing Center.

Born in Housatonic on April 1, 1915, son of Charles and Katherine Martin Baldwin, he attended local schools and was a 1932 graduate of the former Searles High School.

He moved to Richmond in 1968.

Mr. Baldwin was employed since 1941 by the Mead Corp., formerly known as Hurlbut Paper Co., retiring in 1980 as supervisor of the maintenance department. Previously, he had been employed by the former Monument Mills in Housatonic and General Electric Co. in Pittsfield.

He enjoyed camping.

His wife, the former Alice Szewcyzk, died on Oct. 13, 1997.

A son, Clarence A. Baldwin Jr., died June 25, 1991.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Clarence Baldwin Sr., who died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, will be held on Monday, July 3, at noon at the Green Lawn Cemetery, Housatonic, with the Rev. C.J. Waitkus officiating.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Clarence's memory may be made to the West Stockbridge/Richmond V.N.A. in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is in charge of arrangements.

His great-great grandfather was the owner and operator of the former Baldwin Chair Factory in South Egremont.
