Rosemarie Pirzl, 69, of 12 Holmeswood Terrace died Wednesday at the home of her son, Herbert J. Pirzl III, of Prospect Street in Lanesborough.
Born in Pittsfield on May 6, 1937, daughter of Fred and Evelyn Daigle Gerhardt, she was a 1956 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Pirzl managed Lenox Mobil for 15 years until it closed in December 2005. Before that, she was a night manager at Pizza Hut, a shift supervisor at Friendly's restaurant in Lenox, and, for a time, worked at the former Pete's Diner.
She taught swimming and was a lifeguard at the YMCA. She was a member of the Emblem Club and enjoyed playing bingo and taking trips to the beach.
Her husband, Herbert "John" Pirzl Jr., whom she married Sept. 22, 1956, died July 25, 1994.
Besides her son, she leaves another son, John H. Pirzl Sr. of Dalton; a daughter, Ann Pirzl of Pittsfield; three sisters, Barbara McMahon and Patricia Santora, both of Pittsfield, and Jane Thorworth of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rosemarie Pirzl, 69, who died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, will be Monday at 1 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor of St. Ann's Church in Lenox, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Monday from 11until 1 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or the Berkshire Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She also leaves her grandchildren, Kelly A. Pirzl and John H. Pirzl Jr., Nikki Pirzl, Herbert J. Pirzl IV, Shana Pirzl, Kasey Connors, Daniel Connors IV and Erin Connors; her great grandson, Nicholas Newton; two daughters-in-law, Colleen and Nancy Pirzl; a son-in-law, Daniel Connors III, and several nieces and nephews.
