John R. "Jack" Haskell

John R. "Jack" Haskell, 64, of North Street died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 12, 1941, son of Clarence and Barbara Sherwood Haskell, he was a 1959 graduate of the former Dalton High School.
He served in the Coast Guard from 1959 to 1963.
Mr. Haskell was employed by Crane & Co. as a machine supervisor for 41 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Dalton Congregational Church and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, playing golf, hunting and fishing.
He leaves two daughters, Jeanne Nicoll of Pittsfield and Shirley Barscz of Stephentown, N.Y.; three sons, John Haskell Jr. of Manchester, N.H., Jack Haskell of Dalton and Joseph Haskell of Pittsfield; two sisters, Judy Suriner of Cummington and Joyce Mason of Springhill, Fla.; his companion, Nancy Gordon, with whom he resided; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Mr. John R. Haskell, who died June 22, 2006, will be conducted Monday at 1 at BARTLETT WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Robert Kyte of Dalton Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
Calling hours will be tomorrow from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to the Dalton Fire Department, the Shriners' Hospital or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
He also leaves his sons-in-law, Kevin Nicoll and Billy Barscz; John's companion, Tina; Jack's companion, David; daughter-in-law, Cindy Haskell; brother-in-law, Jeff Mason; grandchildren, Becky, Ashlie, Aimee, Kim, Joey, Mitchell and Victoria, and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Caimin, Christopher and Aryana.
