Helen Volin

Helen Volin, 84, of Moffatt Road, a former resident of Pittsfield, died Sunday at Richmond Hospital in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, where she had lived since 1987.
Born in York, Pa., on Dec. 9, 1921, daughter of Albert and Margarete Hackenburg Emig, she was a graduate of Lewisburg (Pa.) High School.
She moved to Pittsfield in 1945.
Mrs. Volin and her husband, Wilson Nickerson Volin, were employed by General Electric Co. for many years.
They lived in Picayune, Miss., from 1964 to 1969, where, through GE, they were involved with the Apollo space missions' rocket testing program.
In Richmond, Mrs. Volin was an administrative assistant for her daughter, Penny Berinbaum, in her speech therapy practice. Previously, she was employed by Varian Industries in Ipswich.
She enjoyed playing bridge.
She and her husband were married Jan. 28, 1942. He died in 1977.
Besides her daughter, she leaves two sisters, her twin, Dorcas Renaud of Topsfield, and Barbara Yocum of Lewisburg, Pa., and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Helen Emig Volin, who died Sunday, June 18, 2006, will be Wednesday, June 28, at 1:30 at CRONRATH FUNERAL HOME in Lewisburg, Pa.
Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery. A memorial service also will be held in Richmond, B.C., on Labor Day weekend. She also leaves a son-in-law, Martin, and two grandchildren, Matthew and Rebecca.
She was predeceased by a sister, June Roser, in 2003, and by a brother, Bud Emig, during WWII in 1945.
