Charles J. Shea

Charles J. Shea, 92, of 62 Burbank St., died Monday evening at Springside of Pittsfield Health Care Facility, where he was a patient for the past three months.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 3, 1913, son of Charles J. and Mary A. Michaels Shea, he attended St. Joseph's Central High School.
Mr. Shea served with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II.
He was employed for many years by the former Berkshire Woolen Mill. Later, he was employed as a custodian in the Pittsfield School Department, retiring in 1985 after 16 years of service.
He and his late mother owned and operated the St. Terese Gift shop on Melville Street during the 1950s.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He was a charter member of the former Dewey Athletic Club.
He leaves a brother, Richard H. Shea of Pittsfield.
His longtime companion, with whom he resided, Cynthia "Cy" Mattoon, died Nov. 17, 2003.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Charles J. Shea, who died Monday, June 19, 2006, was a loving uncle to several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be tomorrow, June 22, at 8:15 a.m. from DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph's church celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home today from 4 to 7.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Donnelly and Agnes Soldato, and a brother, Herman Shea. If friends desire, donations may be made to the Pittsfield Boys and Girls Club in care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, 01201, in his memory.
