Norma Louise Lembcke

Norma Louise Lembcke, 93, died Friday at Kimball Farms.

Born in Collamer, N.Y., on Oct. 8, 1912, daughter of Reuben and Susan Temple, she attended schools in East Syracuse and received her teaching degree from Cortland Normal School.

Mrs. Lembcke taught Grades 1 through 6 in a one-room schoolhouse in Collamer. She also taught primary grades in Marcellus, N.Y., schools. After her children were grown, she returned to teaching primary grades in the East Syracuse-Minos School System, retiring in 1972.

She was a member of Church on the Hill and a volunteer at Tanglewood.

She and her husband, Charles G. Lembcke, were married Oct. 10, 1942. He died in June 2004.

She leaves three daughters, Marcia Bernstein of Highland Park, Ill., Karen Calloway of Cleveland, Ga., and Susan Lembcke of Milton, Vt.; a son, Charles B. Lembcke of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Norma Louise Lembcke, who died Friday, June 16, 2006, will be conducted Saturday, June 24, 2006, at 2 at the Church on the Hill in Lenox by the Rev. Natalie C. Shiras.

Mrs. Lembcke leaves her grandchildren, Matthew and Jane Lembcke and Thomas Lembcke, Susan and Jennie Bernstein, and Charles and Christopher Calloway; step-grandchildren, Charles and Kerry Rubin, and Mark and Neha Pyle; daughter-in-law Jean Pyle; her sons-in-law Leon Bernstein, Sandy Calloway and Bill Perreault, and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church on the Hill, Chapel 55, Main St., Lenox, MA 01240, or HospiceCare in the Berkshires Inc., 369 South St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. KELLY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. She was an engaged member of the community.
