Erwin A. Kuni

Erwin A. Kuni, 75, of 253 Lebanon Ave. died yesterday at home.
Born in Sugarloaf Township, Ill., on Aug. 31, 1930, son of Charles G. and Edna Schlimmer Kuni, he was educated in Illinois schools.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1949 to 1953.
Mr. Kuni was employed by Pittsfield Sand and Gravel, retiring in 1985. Before that, he was a heavy equipment operator for Virgilio and Vincent construction companies.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and of the Antique Engine Club in Hudson, N.Y. He enjoyed making furniture and collecing antique water pumps.
He and his wife, the former Margaret A. Bentley, were married March 1, 1952, in New Lebanon, N.Y.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mary A. Kuni-Schilling of Pittsfield and Shirley A. Finney of Palmdale, Calif.; five sons, Erwin A. Kuni Jr. of Dalton, Edward A. Kuni Sr. and R. James Kuni, both of Pittsfield, Charles G. Kuni of Acton, Calif., and John C. Kuni of Little Rock, Calif.; four sisters, Virginia Lindhorst, Helen Bivins and Irene Casey, all of Dupo, Ill., and Marcella Hoock of East Corondelet, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Erwin A. Kuni Sr., who died at home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, June 17, 2006, will be conducted Wednesday, June 21, at 10 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Robert Rennie, pastor of First Baptist Church.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the First Baptist Campership Fund, in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Charles, Eugene, Vernon and Ralph Kuni.
