Alexander V. Garcia

Alexander V. Garcia, 86, of 40 Walchenbach Circle and a resident of Housatonic from 1971-1996, died Monday at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield.
Born in Tequila, Jaslico, Mexico on Oct. 26, 1919, son of Aurelio Ventura and Simona Serrato Garcia, he moved to the United States when he was six months old and graduated from Eliot High School in Senora, Texas. A World War II and Korean Army veteran, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a technical sergeant from 1942-1962, in Iceland, Germany and Greenland. He received numerous ribbons and medals.
He was a back tender and machinist for Morat/Mead Corp. in Lee, retiring in 1986. After his retirement, he worked in the Kmart in Great Barrington from 1989-1991.
He was a former communicant of All Saint's Church in Housatonic and a member of the North American Martyrs Parish in Berkshire Village.
He was a vice president of the Southern Berkshire Junior Bowling and also a coach.
He was a quartermaster and life member of the Lee V.F.W. Post 893.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and C.B. radios, and his C.B. name was Enterprise.
He leaves his wife, the former Mary Ann Wisniewski, whom he married Aug. 7, 1971.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Alexander V. Garcia, who died Monday, June 12, 2006, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at All Saints Church, with the Rev. David Raymond officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. Expressions of sympathy in Alexander's memory may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230-1815.
