Katherine Rose Spaulding, 88, of 144 Fort Hill Ave. died Sunday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided since April.
Born in Pittsfield on June 17, 1917, daughter of Mathias and Rose Kirchner Jacoby, she was a 1935 high school graduate and a 1939 graduate of Russell Sage College.
Mrs. Spaulding was employed by the Pittsfield Public Schools as a science teacher at the former South Junior High School, now Herberg Middle School, from 1960 until her retirement in the early 1980s.
She was a member of the Massachusetts State Teachers Association and the Massachusetts Audubon Society.
She enjoyed gardening and walking the Jacoby family farm.
Her husband, Forrest C. Spaulding, whom she married Sept. 6, 1946, died April 15, 1999.
She leaves a daughter, Christine K. Andrews of Pittsfield; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Katherine Rose Spaulding, who died Sunday, June 11, 2006, will be conducted Wednesday, June 14, at 9 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. William D. Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Spaulding may be made to Berkshire Natural Resources Council or to the charity of one's choice in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
