Patrick H. Gavin, 55, of 57 Park St. died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on April 16, 1951, son of Everett and Jeanette Bastion Gavin, he attended local parochial schools.
An Army veteran, he served from 1971 to 1973 as a wheeled vehicle mechanic.
Mr. Gavin was employed in the maintenance department at Berkshire Medical Center from 1981 to 1986, when he became disabled because of a motorcycle accident.
Before that, he was employed in the maintenance department at Willow Lakes Estates in Pompano Beach, Fla., and, for six years, worked for the Pittsfield Department of Parks and Recreation.
He enjoyed hunting, scuba diving, playing cribbage and traveling.
He was married to IreneJones.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Sara Gavin of Pittsfield, and a son, Derrick Jones of Charlotte, N.C.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Calling hours for Patrick W. Gavin, who died Friday, June 9, 2006, will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. A prayer service will be held at 6:30, with the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the funeral home to help offset expenses, in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He enjoyed taking hikes with his dog, Elmer.
