Amy M. Toomey, 31, of 6 Lincoln St., Easthampton, died at Wednesday at home after a five-year battle with cancer.
Her husband, Ryan Toomey, is a native of Pittsfield.
Born in Framingham on July 2, 1974, daughter of Roland H. and Mary Cormier Lapointe, she graduated from Holy Name High School in Worcester in 1992 and earned a bachelor of science degree from Lesley University in 1996 and a master's degree in education from Springfield College in 2003.
Mrs. Toomey was lead preschool teacher at the Springfield College Child Development Center.
She enjoyed gardening.
She and her husband were married Aug. 25, 2001.
Besides her husband and parents, of Upton, she leaves a brother, Jon H. Lapointe of Los Angeles.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A celebration of the life of Amy Lapointe Toomey, who died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, will occur at her home at 6 Lincoln St., Easthampton, on June 17 at 1. The family insists that flowers be omitted and would rather that tax-deductible donations be made in her name to the Cancer Connection, P.O. Box 60452, Florence, MA 01062.
This outstanding nonprofit organization provided great comfort to Amy and her family during her illness. Her remains will be buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Upton at the convenience of the family. Amy touched so many lives and will be greatly missed. From a very early age, teaching was her passion.
She also enjoyed her home, scrapbooking and going for long walks with her husband and their dog, Alice.
