Lillian P. Anderson, 93, of Providence Court died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center after a short illness.
Born in Everett on May 13, 1913, daughter of George Everett and Bertha Doane Perkins, she moved to Pittsfield when she was 5 years old.
She was a student in the first class to attend and graduate from Pittsfield High School in 1932, and she went on to attend Berkshire Business College.
Mrs. Anderson was employed by Berkshire Life Insurance Co. for 23 years, from May 1955 until her retirement in 1978.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, called on shut-ins, taught Sunday school, and was in the Priscilla Group.
She was also a member of the BLICO Retirees Group. During World War II, she was a local driver for the Red Cross.
She and her husband, John Olaf Anderson, were married July 3, 1938. He predeceased her in 1966.
She leaves two daughters, Linda Anderson Chiarello of Naples, Fla., and Susan Anderson Crookshanks of Bigfork, Mont.; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Lillian P. Anderson, who died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, will be held Saturday, June 10, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles Young officiating. Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Pittsfield Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. The family requests no flowers. Donations in memory of Lillian Anderson may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Elder Services or Hospice in care of WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She leaves her grandchildren, Karen Chiarello, Gustav Chiarello III, Travis Crookshanks, Stephanie Crookshanks and Jennifer Harper; great-grandchildren, Frances Chiarello, Gustav Chiarello IV, Peter Chiarello and Katelyn Harper; a niece, June Lockman; her good friend, Marianna Pachico, and several other nieces and nephews and their families.
She is predeceased by a sister, Edna Blanchard, and a brother, Charles Perkins.
