Barry D. Smith, 79, of Fairfield died Tuesday at St. Vincent's Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on June 21, 1926, son of Francis and Gertrude Barry Smith, he was a 1944 graduate of Dalton High School. He also attended Munson Academy, Rider College and the University of Miami, receiving a bachelor's degree.
He had been a Fairfield resident for the past 45 years.
Mr. Smith was a disabled veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was employed by the Ford Motor Credit Co. as a manager, retiring after 30 years of service.
He was a parishioner of St. Thomas' Church.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the George Alfred Smith Post 74 American Legion and the Men's League.
Besides his wife, the former Rosemary Haskins, of Fairfield, he leaves three daughters, Karen DiGirolamo of Southington, Conn., Mary Jane O'Connor of Stratham, N.H., and Susan Smith of Noxen, Pa.; two sons, Bruce Smith of South Salem, N.Y., and Jim Smith of Granite Springs, N.Y., and seven grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Barry D. Smith died Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. in SPEAR-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 30 South Benson Rd., Fairfield. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Victor Martin officiating.
A burial service with military honors will be held on Friday, June 2, 2006, at 11:30 a.m. in Spruce Grove Cemetery, Savoy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North East Westchester Special Recreation, 63 Bradhurst Ave., Hawthorne, NY 10532.
