Robert Steven White

Robert Steven White, 79, formerly of 148 Madison Ave., died yesterday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born in Hinsdale on Aug. 6, 1926, son of Alfred and Florence Demary White, he was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
A Navy veteran of World War II veteran, he served from March 17, 1944, to March 5, 1946, and was discharged with the rank of seaman second class. He was awarded several campaign medals.
Mr. White was employed by Lane Construction Corp. until suffering injuries in an industrial accident while building the Columbia Arms elderly housing project.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, enjoyed all sports and was a fan of the New York Yankees.
He and his wife, the former Edna M. Burke, were married April 3, 1971. She died in February 2002.
He leaves a son, Steven R. White of Pittsfield; two sisters, Cecile Freeman of Washington state and Shirley Karpenski of Pittsfield, and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Robert Steven White, who died Friday, May 19, 2006, will be Tuesday, May 23, at 10:30 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 celebrated by the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. White may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He also leaves his daughter-in-law, April L. White, and two grandchildren, Taylor Joseph and Jetter Alexander White, both of Pittsfield, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Alfred White.
