M. Ann Ward

M. Ann Ward, 78, of 109 Housatonic St. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 17, 1928, daughter of Russell G. and Madeline Farnum Wheeler, she attended Lenox schools and was a 1945 graduate of Lenox High School.
Mrs. Ward was the dining room manager at the former Curtis Hotel in Lenox during the 1960s and 1970s. She later worked in retail stores, including the former Berkshire Clothing in Lenox and the Boutique at Canyon Ranch, retiring from there in 2001.
She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church, where she taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classes for several years, and a member of its Rosary-Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
For many years she was a member of the Lenox Democratic Town Committee. She enjoyed traveling, doing crossword puzzles, watching the Boston Celtics and playing bingo.
She and her husband, Donald D. Ward, were married at St. Ann's Church on Jan. 15, 1949. He died Nov. 26, 1989.
She leaves a daughter, Kathleen M. Face of Lenox; a son, Terence R. Ward of Leicester; three sisters, Claire E. Armstrong and Barbara J. Sibley, both of Lenox, and Elizabeth A. Harrison of Pittsfield; a brother, Robert E. Wheeler of Lenox; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Deborah M. Martinelli, died March 24, 1988.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral of Mrs. M. Ann Ward, who died Saturday, May 20, 2006, will be Thursday at 10:15 from ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Ann's Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7. Donations in Mrs. Ward's memory may be made to St. Ann's Church in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She also leaves her son-in-law Timothy S. Face; her loving grandchildren and their spouses, Kimberly and Timothy Blair, Sean and Jan Ward, Kaitlin and Sean Scarbro, Sara Ann Ward, Timothy and Jessica Face, and Terrence M. Ward; her beloved great-grandchildren, Casey and Alaina Blair, and Michael Ward, and her devoted brother- and sisters-in-law, George Armstrong, Peggy Wheeler, Lillian Wheeler and Sister Mary M. Ward, SSJ.
She was predeceased by her sister, Mary K. Aspromonte, and by her brothers, Russell G. and Richard E. Wheeler.
