Ruth Watson

Ruth Watson, 95, formerly of Melbourne Place, died Sunday at Providence Care Center in Lenox, where she had resided since June 2005.
Born in Somerville on May 3, 1911, daughter of Harry S. and Minnie Edgerly Watson, she graduated from Jamaica Plain High School in 1929 and from Chandler Secretarial School in Boston.
Miss Watson was employed by the former Berkshire County Savings Bank in the mortgage department for 41 years, retiring as assistant vice president in 1976.
She volunteered at Hancock Shaker Village for many years and was a member of the Berkshire County Historical Society and the Saving Bank Women of Massachusetts.
She was known as the blueberry lady because of the large patch of berries that she grew and gave to friends.
She leaves a niece, Carol Potvin, of Needham.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Ruth Watson died Sunday, May 14, 2006. At Miss Watson's request, there will be no services. Following cremation, burial will be in Needham Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
There will no calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to Hancock Shaker Village in care of WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth E. Watson. Mr. Robert Wells, former president of Berkshire County Savings Bank, said that Miss Watson always did an outstanding job at the bank.
