Rita Inez White

Rita Inez White, 79, of 476 Fenn St. died Wednesday at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox.

Born in Pittsfield on March 3, 1927, daughter of Luigi and Geltruda D'Ascanio Taglieri, she was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mrs. White was employed as a lunch cook at Cim's Tavern on Fenn Street for 10 years, retiring in 2003. Before that, she was a cookat the former Coffee Automat.

She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Madison Pitch League.

She enjoyed cooking, bowling, and playing bingo and cards.

Her husband, Argie Lee White, whom she married May 29, 1945, died Nov. 3, 1979.

She leaves two sons, David L. White and Donald R. White, both of Pittsfield; three daughters, Darlene G. White, Deborah R. Kennedy and Dyan S. White, all of Pittsfield; 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mrs. Rita Inez White, who died May 10, 2006 will be Tuesday at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.

Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, May 15, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Ernest, Guido D., Nazzaro and Angelo Taglieri, and by two sisters, Assunta "Sue" Caparelli and Edith Baccoli. Rita was known for her love of cooking and candlepin bowling and for her savvy card-playing skills, especially in pitch and poker.

She once won a $500 jackpot for making the 1-7-10 split on a TV bowling show taped at Candle Lanes and recently placed first in the Madison Cafe Pitch League.
