Walter B. Knights Sr.

Walter B. Knights Sr., 59, of 1716 West Housatonic St., died Sunday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 4, 1946, son of Lawrence L. and Mary Fletcher Knights, he was a 1965 graduate of Pittsfield High School and was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Knights was previously employed as a carpenter at Berkshire Farm Center in Canaan, N.Y., for eight years. At the time of his death, he was employed as a carpenter at the Stratton VA Hospital in Albany, N.Y., for the past eight years.

He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed fishing, boating and camping.

He and his wife, the former Donna Krupka, were married Jan. 9, 1967.

Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Kim M. White of Pittsfield and Carolyn R. Knights of Chicopee; three sons, Walter B. Knights Jr. and Arthur L. Knights, both of Pittsfield, and Lawrence L. Knights of Enfield, Conn.; two sisters, Carole Meacham of Thousand Palms, Calif., and Beverly Knights of Pittsfield, and 11 grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Walter B. Knights Sr., who died Sunday, May 7, 2006, will be Thursday, May 11, at 10 a.m. at DWYER FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshire or to the National Pancreas Foundation care of the funeral home in his memory.

He was predeceased by a brother, Phillip Knights, in 1991.
