Richard D. Slonski

Richard D. Slonski, 48, of 46 Berkley St. died Sunday at Albany (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack while on a fishing trip on the Hudson River.
Born in Pittsfield on July 24, 1957, son of the late Walter F. and Anna Loffek Slonski, he was educated in Pittsfield schools.
Mr. Slonski was employed as a laborer for area contractors for many years, and had at one time worked on the pipelines in Alaska. He retired in 1985 due to ill health.
He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of the Polish Falcons.
An all-around outdoorsman, he was a fisherman who enjoyed making and tying his own flies for fly fishing. He also enjoyed hunting, and had traveled to Alaska to hunt and fish. He was also a Red Sox fan.
He leaves two sisters.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Richard D. "Richie" Slonski, who died Sunday, April 30, 2006, will be Thursday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor of Holy Family Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from noon to l p.m. prior to the service at Dery Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Slonski may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
