Walter Otto Siebert, 75, of Vin Hebert Blvd., died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Staten Island, N.Y. on Oct. 27, 1930, son of Otto W. and Gertrude Hensel Siebert, he moved with his family to Concord, N.H., where he attended local schools and was a 1948 graduate of Concord High School.
He also received a bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1952 and later took graduate classes at the University of Austria in Vienna.
Mr. Siebert served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1955 and spent much of that time in the Intelligence Division in Germany and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He was the administrator at the former Valley View Nursing Home in Lenox during the 1970s and early 1980s. A private pilot, he did commercial aerial photography in the 1990s and worked at Berkshire Life during the 1960s. He also worked part time as a census taker in Berkshire County.
Mr. Siebert came to Lenox to make his home in 1964 and had resided in Pittsfield since 1995.
He enjoyed flying, photography, stamp collecting, classical music, and was an accomplished landscape gardener.
He leaves his wife, the former Alice Leister, of Pittsfield; a daughter, Tamara A. Cloutier of Greenport, N.Y.; a son, Timothy O. Siebert of Las Vegas; and a sister, Anne Barnard of Hartford, Conn.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Interment of Mr. Walter O. Siebert, who died April 23, 2006, will be Thursday, April 27, at 2 p.m. in the columbarium at PIttsfield Cemetery.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240, which is in charge of arrangements.
