Harold Edward Halley

Harold Edward Halley, 102, a resident of 610 Tamarack Road since 1953, died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Warren on Sept. 9, 1903, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Gilbert Halley, he was educated in Pittsfield schools until going to work at the age of 14.
Mr. Halley had been employed as a security guard by the former St. Luke's Hospital for 13 years prior to its merger with Berkshire Medical Center, from which he retired in 1973.
He was previously employed by Berkshire Woolen Company, Taconic Mill, Dalton Woolen Mills and by the Fred Crane family in Dalton.
Mr. Halley was a communicant of St. Teresa Church. He was a Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed hiking, walking and gardening.
His wife, the former Theresa M. Bourden, whom he married Aug. 20, 1934, in Notre Dame Church, died Oct. 18, 1989.
He leaves two sons, Richard J. and David E. Halley, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Linda M. Liccardi of Pittsfield; a sister, Doris Russell of Pittsfield; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara A. Flynn, on Nov. 27, 1996.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Harold Edward Halley, who died Saturday, April 15, 2006, will be held Wednesday, April 26, at 10:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa Church, celebrated by the Rev. John J. Varley, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Halley may be made to Friends of the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
Mr. Halley enjoyed spending time with his dog, Cream Puff.
