Charles W. Donaldson, 79, of Oswald Avenue died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on May 15, 1926, son of Charles R. and Anna Herforth Donaldson, he was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A World War II Navy veteran, he served in the Pacific theater.
Mr. Donaldson was employed by General Electric Co. for 39 years in the power transformer division.
He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and volunteered at its food pantry. He also founded the church's bingo program.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 448, the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and the Ralph Froio Senior Center.
Mr. Donaldson coached in the West Little League for 12 years. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots and enjoyed bowling.
He and his wife, the former Helen Yarmey, were married June 7, 1952.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Thomas E. Donaldson of Pittsfield and William Donaldson of Azusa, Calif., and a sister, Kathleen Betters of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mr. Charles W. Donaldson, who died April 17, 2006, will be tomorrow, April 20, at 9:15 from DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mark's Church celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys' & Girls' Club of Pittsfield or the Jimmy Fund, both in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He also leaves his daughter-in-law, Lori Donaldson of Pittsfield; his sister-in-law, Mary Kendall of Dalton; four nephews, and three nieces.
