Rita S. Shorey, 85, formerly of 42 Scammel Ave., died Saturday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided since April 2004.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 13, 1920, daughter of William and Beulah Harris Stanhope, she was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Shorey was a homemaker.
She attended the former Trinity United Methodist Church, which became Lenox United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing and cooking.
Her first husband, Kenneth L. Fawcett, whom she married June 30, 1940, died in 1963.
She and her husband, Edward Shorey, were married Jan. 18, 1975. He died in 1983.
She leaves a daughter, Sandra Dunsmore of Pittsfield; a son, Kenneth Fawcett, of Pittsfield; 11 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rita S. Shorey, who died Saturday, April 15, 2006, will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to the Boys' & Girls' Club of Pittsfield, in care of WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Wood and Alberta Vacchina.
