Jennifer M. Brown

Jennifer M. Brown, 45, of 9 Mieczkowski Circle, Whately, a native of Dalton, died Wednesday, at home after a brief illness.

Born on March 3, 1961, daughter of Philip G. Brown and the late Roberta Croughwell Brown, she was a 1979 graduate of St. Joseph High School and attended American International College.

She served in the Army from 1983 to 1989 and was trained as an operating-room specialist at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Since 2003, Ms. Brown had been employed in the endoscopy department at Cooley-Dickinson Hospital in Northampton. In 1999, she left the medical field to attend Western Massachusetts Precision Institute and worked as a machinist at Hardigg Industries in South Deerfield. Previously, she worked at Cooley-Dickinson as a surgical technician/certified first assistant.

She was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Miami Dolphins and enjoyed scuba diving, doing the New York Times crossword puzzles and playing golf.

She was married to Joanne M. Dickinson.

Besides her spouse, she leaves her father, of Dalton.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Jennifer M. Brown, who died April 12, 2006, will be Tuesday at 1:30 at Helen Hill Hills Chapel, 123 Elm St., Northampton. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 7 at WRISLEY FUNERAL HOME, 90 Sugarloaf St., South Deerfield.

Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Whatley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cooley-Dickinson Hospital Building Fund, in care of Dianne Dukette, P.O. Box 329, Northampton, MA 01061, or to the MSPCA, in care of Mary O'Connell, 171 Union St., Springfield, MA 01105.

She loved and was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed. She leaves two very special aunts, Jill Simonds of Alexandria, Va., and Jackie Viljanen of Standish, Maine; several cousins, and two border terriers, Sami and Molly. Her mother, Roberta N. Brown, died in 1996.
