Irene M. Correia

Irene M. Correia, 86, of 26 Judith Drive died yesterday at Providence Care Center in Lenox, where she had resided since February.
Born in Nizza Monferrato, province of Asti, Italy, on Nov. 8, 1919, daughter of Pietro and Maria Enrichetta Masengo Giolito, she immigrated to the United States at the age of 3 and was a 1937 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Correia was employed by General Electric Co. in the payroll department and, later, in the company's Credit Union, retiring in 1982.
She was a former communicant of St. Agnes' Church.
She enjoyed dancing, participating in many contests in which she won awards, and cooking, gardening and playing pinochle.
Her husband, Gabriel L. Correia, whom she married Sept. 6, 1948, at Mount Carmel Church, died Nov. 21, 2002.
She leaves three daughters, Cynthia I. Quarella of Holden, Marsha E. Martin of Whately and Pamela Correia of Coral Springs, Fla.; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Irene M. Giolito Correia, who died April 15, 2006, will be Tuesday at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She also leaves two sons-in-law, John Quarella and Clinton Martin. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary R. Noyes and Maria Josephine Giolito.
