Bruno S. Simonetta

Bruno S. Simonetta, 87, of 32 Farnsworth Terrace died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 13, 1919, son of Raffeale and Raffeala Manella Simonetta, he graduated from Pittsfield High School.

A World War II Navy veteran, he served as a second class carpenter's mate.

Mr. Simonetta was employed by General Electric Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1982. Before that, he was a foreman at the former Elmvale Worsted Co.

He also assisted his daughter Patricia A. Paul, an owner of Tahiti restaurant, for 23 years.

He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its choir and Holy Name Society. He sang at many funerals.

He was also a member of Charles Persip American Legion Post 68, GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs, and the Golden Club at the Ralph J. Froio Senior Citizen Center, where he participated in several musicals.

He enjoyed repairing televisions, carpentry, gardening, reading and dancing.

He and his wife, the former Gloria E. Vittone, were married July 22, 1950, at St. Mary's Church.

Besides his wife and daughter, of Lanesborough, he leaves another daughter, Rosemary E. Hagen of State College, Pa.; four sisters, Lucy Bernardo of Pittsfield and three living in Italy; two brothers of Italy, and four grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Bruno S. Simonetta, who died Sunday, April 16, 2006, will be Wednesday at 10 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.

Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, April 18, from 4 to 7. Members of the Mount Carmel Church Holy Name Society and Ladies' Guild will meet at the funeral home at 5 for a prayer service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

He leaves four grandchildren, Matthew Hagen and his wife, Melissa, Mark Hagen and his wife, Anne, Lane Marie Hagen and Elise Michelle Hagen, and two sons-in-law, Daniel Hagen and Philip Paul.

Bruno was predeceased by four brothers, Michael, Benjamin, Samuel and Joseph Simonetta, and by four sisters, Rose and Elena Simonetta, Rosaria Pasquino and Susan Cultrera.
