Lillian M. Shufelt, 94, of 174 Fort Hill Ave. died Sunday at Williamstown Commons, where she had resided since October.
Born in Leominster on March 15, 1912, daughter of William and Mary Bugus Ethier, she was educated in schools there.
Mrs. Shufelt owned and operated the former Harvey's Glass Shop on Fourth Street and, later, on East Street, which she took over upon the death of her husband, Harvey F. Shufelt Sr., on April 1, 1965.
During the 1970s and 1980s, she also worked for the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association and for Meals on Wheels.
She was a member of Immanuel Community Church and active in the Pittsfield Grange on West Street for many years. She maintained the family "funny farm" on Fort Hill Avenue, where she enjoyed the Canada geese that visited her property yearly. She also enjoyed traveling and gardening.
She and her husband were married in August 1945.
She leaves two daughters, Rose Mary Burk of Williamstown and Susan I. Bennett of Hickory, N.C.; a son, David Shufelt of Pittsfield; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Another son, Pvt. George J. Shufelt, died while serving in Vietnam, and two stepsons, Harvey F. "Juny" Shufelt Jr. and John Shufelt, both died in 1990. A stepdaughter, Florence Fiske, also is deceased.

Shufelt, who died peacefully on a beautiful Palm Sunday morning surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 9, 2006, also leaves her daughter-in-law, Ellen Shufelt of Palmer Lake, Colo.; 19 grandchildren, Howard, Thomas, Marion, Edward and Tracy Fiske, Kathleen Rice, Marie and Jimmy Wetherell, Sheila Bleau, David Jason Shufelt, Cameo Wood, Rebecca, M. Peter and Mason Bennett, Michael, James, John, David and Mary Jane Shufelt, and her best friend of 50+ years, Evelyn Tyska.
She was predeceased by a sister, Rose Ann Daoust; two brothers, William and Benjamin Ethier, and two grandchildren, Harvey F. "Corky" Shufelt III and Nancy Shufelt. The funeral for Mrs. Shufelt will be private.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in West Center Cemetery in West Stockbridge. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Shufelt may be made to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She loved animals and nature and visiting with good friends and neighbors.
