Rita E. Stanley, 89, of 45 Main St., Sugar Hill Assisted Living Facility, died there Saturday.
Born in Pittsfield on May 30, 1916, daughter of Albert B. Jones Sr. and Katherine Harrington Jones, she was a 1934 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
Mrs. Stanley was employed by the Pittsfield Public Schools in the cafeteria at the former North Junior High School for seven years. She retired in 1977. Before that, she worked at General Electric Co. in the Plastics Division.
She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality.
She and her husband, Bernard A. Stanley, were married Aug. 31, 1940. He died May 1, 1985.
She leaves three daughters, Judith Tietgens and Barbara Nightingale, both of Pittsfield, and Susan Pavlick of Orange City, Fla.; two sons, Michael Stanley of Hill, N.H., and Phillip Stanley of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Katherine Gennette of the Lanesborough and Patricia Hinckley of Monroe, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Donald Stanley.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rita E. Stanley, 89, who died April 8, 2006, will be Wednesday at 9:15 from DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Francis' Church celebrated by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. If friends desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Jimmy Fund, in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She was predeceased by five brothers, William, John, Albert, Frederick and Edward Stanley, and by two sisters, Mary Gazaw and Frederica Pensivy.
