Kathleen "Cookie" Smith, 78, of 37 Anita Drive died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 8, 1927, daughter of Alexander and Albina Turner Renzi, she was a 1945 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Smith was employed as a bookkeeper for Krell Plumbing. Before that, she worked in the retail industry at the former Textile's and the former Paris clothing stores, and at Groom's Choice.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Her husband, Glenn Smith, died in 1978.
She leaves two daughters, Kathy Grandshaw and Sherri Vinette, both of Pittsfield; a son, Alex Smith; a sister, Glenda "Poochie" Gregory of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Her former husband, Marvin Kay, died in 1995.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Kathleen "Cookie" Smith died Friday, April 7, 2006. Cookie was a loving mother and devoted grandmother to Christopher, Cassie, Mackenzie, Mallorie, Jadyn and Delaney.
The funeral will be Wednesday, April 12 at 10 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Sacred Heart Church concelebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor, and the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, the American Cancer Society or to the Berkshire Human Society, all in care of the funeral home in her memory.
Cookie will be deeply missed by her loving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and by her many friends.
