James M. Cheney Sr.

James M. Cheney Sr., 47, of High Street, died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after a short illness.
Born in Springfield on April 19, 1958, son of James E. Cheney and Barbara Disanti Cheney Danenza, he attended schools there and graduated from Chicopee High School in 1976.
He had been a resident of the Berkshires for 10 years.
Mr. Cheney was employed by the former Hard Hat as a bartender. He also had his own vending business and could be seen at his hot dog cart at area fundraisers and outside of Berkshire Medical Center.
He resided in South Deerfield for a short time and had been a longtime resident in the Chicopee area.
He enjoyed hunting and gardening, and playing cards and billiards. He was a Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
Besides his father, of Eastham, and his mother, of Chicopee, he leaves a son James M. Cheney Jr.; two daughters, Angela and Molly; a sister, Denise Ducharme of West Springfield; his stepfather, William Danenza of Chicopee, and his stepmother, Pat Cheney of Eastham.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for James M. "Jimmy" Cheney, who died Friday, March 31, 2006, will be celebrated tomorrow, April 5, at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield, followed by the Rite of Committal in St. Michael's Cemetery, 1601 State St., Springfield.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Forastiere Funeral Home, 45 Locust St., Springfield, MA 01108. If friends desire, memorial donations in Jimmy's name may be made to Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
Jimmy was a lifelong "Yaz" supporter and will be remembered by his brother-in-law, Dean Ducharme of West Springfield, and by his many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
